NSF/ANSI Standard 61 is a set of national standards for materials and equipment that come into contact with drinking water. The stringent requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 61 ensure that materials used in water processing and delivery do not contaminate the water at any point in the process. The concrete used to construct water and waste water treatment plants, tanks, and other related components must be produced with materials that are certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61. Similarly, coatings, repair mortars, and waterproofing materials that maintain and protect concrete in water treatment facilities must meet this standard. It is important to note that although NSF and ANSI co-developed Standard 61, there are several agencies other than NSF that are able to perform material testing and provide Standard 61 certification.

VANDEX SUPER is a cementitious coating that waterproofs through crystal growth in the pores and microcracks in concrete surfaces. These crystals block these passages to prevent water ingress. Vandex Super also protects concrete against the damaging effects of saltwater, wastewater, and some chemical solutions.
DURAL ICC GEL is a building code compliant hybrid anchoring adhesive with an extended installation temperature range from 5°F to 104°F (-15°C to 40°C). It has been extensively tested for use as a chemical anchor for threaded rod and reinforcing bar in accordance with ACI 355.4 and ICC-ES AC308.
DURALKOTE 61 is a 100% solids epoxy coating for use on concrete floors and walls with exceptional chemical and abrasion resistance. Duralkote 61 produces a glossy, tile-like, easily maintained surface.

Jennifer Crisman is the Senior Product Marketing Manager for Construction Products at Euclid Chemical.
